Summary
Identity Theft has been the number one consumer complaint for the past few years and continues to be the fastest growing crime in the United States. Learn about vulnerabilities that exist for individuals and businesses, trends and schemes, as well as liability issues and countermeasures.
At present, one in four Americans will become victims of ID theft. This presentation provides an overview of the vulnerabilities and potential impact that exist for individuals and businesses. Scams, schemes, and trends are addressed, as well as issues related to employer responsibilities and liabilities.
Prevention measures and “best practices” are provided for personal and business applications, along with informative handouts. Questions are encouraged throughout the presentation. This is an important topic for business owners and managers, security professionals, Human Resource personnel, students, retirees, and the general public.
About the Facilitator
Jon McDowall is the Senior Consultant for Fraud Resource Group and has been conducting fraud investigations and risk mitigation consulting for over 18 years. He has provided fraud training for hundreds of investigators, insurance adjusters, examiners and underwriters. He has conducted thousands of fraud-related investigations and is credited with saving and/or recovering millions of dollars worth of equipment and other goods for businesses and insurance companies.
Jon was named the 2003 “Associate of the Year” by the National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners for his industry-leading identity theft-related fraud investigation expertise and his commitment to educating others of risk mitigation and prevention techniques. He is a court-recognized expert witness regarding identity theft.
